Safety is the number one concern when it comes to taking public transport, and Uber wants to ensure that they are doing the best they can to protect drivers and riders. The company recently released several updates to improve road safety to prevent and reduce the number of crashes on the road.
First up, the update will track its driver’s driving habits so they will know if they have been speeding, or excessively braking and accelerating. The pattern can be observed from the driver’s app, along with suggestions on how they can provide a smoother and safer ride for customers. The app will also display the driving speed of their vehicle and alert them if they are driving too fast.
The other updates include a reminder to drivers to remind them the importance of taking a break when they need it, and the ability to track if drivers are using their phone while driving so they can prompt the driver to mount the phone on a dashboard for safety reasons.
The new safety feature will be released in the U.S. in the coming weeks, and will be rolled out to more cities “soon”.
