Samsung Charm Officially Announced, a Stylish-Looking Fitness Tracker

Showcased back at MWC 2016, Samsung has officially introduced its new Charm wearable. In comparison to other fitness trackers in the market, such as the Xiaomi Mi Band, the Charm is definitely aimed at consumers who are more style-conscious.

As a fitness tracker, the Charm has the ability to receive notifications from the device it is connected to – it is compatible with Android devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat or newer. Naturally, the Charm fitness tracker links to a device with the “Charm by Samsung” app; users can then use the app to track how many steps they have taken, the amount of calories burnt, as well as the distance they have covered over the course of a day.

Other specifications of the Charm include a 17mAh battery that can supposedly provide up to 14 days of usage as well as LED light notifications. Currently, the Charm is only available in Korea, Italy, France, and Russia, but the company mentioned that the wearable will be launched in more markets in the future. It is available in three colours: Gold, Black, and Rose Quartz.

Although the retail price of the Samsung Charm was not mentioned in the announcement, Samsung’s France site lists the wearable at 40 euro, which is about RM180. The Charm is definitely not the most affordable fitness tracker in the market, but its design may appeal to consumers who are looking for something more stylish.
