You don’t have to sell your kidney just to buy a top-of-the-line smartphone with the latest and greatest hardware on board. ZUK, a subsidiary of Lenovo, recently launched the ZUK Z2 Pro that packs the greatest specs and retails at only RMB2,699 – that’s less than RM1,700.

The ZUK Z2 Pro features a bright 5.2” 1080P Super AMOLED 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 display at the front. The display has a near-invisible (0.05mm-thick) black border around the screen.

The back of the phone is also covered with glass and Lenovo says that it uses ThinkPad-inspired rollcage design that puts a shock-absorbing layer between the glass and the 4.6mm metallic mid-frame, making it more resistant from falls. Of course, don’t go throwing the device around because there’s no guarantee that the glass will not shatter, especially if it lands on a tarmac road.

On the inside, you will find the greatest hardware available at the moment. The ZUK Z2 Pro is powered by a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 processor paired with a speed UFS 2.0 storage of up to 128GB, and up to 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

Other specs include USB Type-C port, Cat 6 LTE, dual nano SIM slots, Quick Charge 3.0 and a large 3100mAh battery on board. Like most flagship smartphones today, the Z2 Pro has a fingerprint sensor at the front that works even on wet fingers. Lenovo says that it has a self-learning ability to increase reading accuracy.

Camera wise, the Z2 Pro uses a Samsung 13MP 1.34um sensor with a bright aperture of f/1.8, with PDAF, OIS and dual-tone flash. The front has an 8MP camera with 1.4um pixels, f/2.0 aperture and of course, a beauty mode for all you selfie lovers.

Other features include an optical heart rate sensor at the back that can also measure oxygen saturation, a 15-level UV detector on the main camera, and a precise activity tracker that can take uphill movements and running cadence. Lenovo wants to encourage iPhone users to switch over, which is why the Z2 Pro syncs with Apple’s iCloud, so iPhone users can easily migrate to this device.

Finally, the most attractive part of the ZUK Z2 Pro – the price. The highest-end Elite edition with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM costs only RMB2,699 – about RM1,627. In a comparison shared by the Chinese company, the Vivo Xplay5 with almost the same specs costs RMB4,288, while the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro with 128GB storage and 4GB RAM also costs RMB2,699. Sadly, Lenovo did not share the price of the normal-edition Z2 Pro 2 that packs 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM.
