The BlackBerry Priv is not an affordable device, that much is sure. However, we’re not entirely sure just how much it will be priced here. Now, thanks to a recent leak, the Priv might be one of the most expensive Android devices to be sold in Malaysia.
We first spotted this leak on the BlackBerry Priv thread on our forum, which was shared by one1002. According to the leaked image, the Priv will go for a whopping RM3,559. For the sake of comparison, even the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium – with a 4K display to boot – only goes for RM3,099, while Samsung’s most expensive device, the Galaxy S6 edge+, retails at RM3,099 as well.
That being said, this is a leaked image, and it didn’t come from any official source. It’s also worth noting that the BlackBerry Priv goes for SG$1,098 in Singapore, which comes up to about RM3,310. If the Priv does retail at RM3,559 in Malaysia, the price disparity is quite odd.
Whichever the case may be, we’ll only know the actual price of the BlackBerry Priv once it is officially announced in Malaysia next week on the 8th of December 2015. While the high price tag might deter some consumers, those who value security over anything else may find the Priv interesting.
