Just recently, HTC Malaysia has posted a rather intriguing teaser on its Facebook page. Beyond the vague message that “something exciting” is coming for Christmas, the teaser did not mention any particular device. However, things are a little clearer once we did a little searching on SIRIM.
While we were hoping that HTC will be bringing in the One A9 to Malaysia soon, a quick search on SIRIM revealed that the One E9 was registered there just last week. Chances are, the device pictured in the teaser is the E9 instead of the A9.
Other than that, the Dot View case pictured in the teaser image isn’t that of the A9 as well. The A9’s Dot View case has the HTC logo placed on the bottom right instead of what is pictured on the teaser. This, coupled with the fact that the One E9 has appeared on SIRIM, makes it very likely that the E9 will be launched on our shores soon.
In terms of specification, the One E9 has some decent hardware. It has a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, a MediaTek Helio X10 2.0GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in memory (expandable with a microSD card up to 128GB), a 13MP rear camera, a 4MP UltraPixel front-facing shooter, and a 2,800mAh battery. It also has LTE connectivity and Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense out of the box.
At the time of writing, we have not heard from HTC Malaysia of any upcoming event. Chances are, the One E9 will be launched here soon.
