After two months of testing and optimisation, fans and owners of eligible Xiaomi smartphones can get their hands on the latest iteration of MIUI.The update will be available over-the-air (OTA) and users can update their phones using the Updater app. For those who don’t want to wait for the OTA update prompt, they can download the ROM package straight from the MIUI Downloads section on release day.

MIUI 7

There are seven eligible devices for the update on release day which includes the Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Pad, Mi Note, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime. This means that Redmi Note 3G and Mi 4i users will have to wait a little longer for the said update. Not to worry, as the company has mentioned it will get the updates out for remaining devices as soon as possible.

It will be interesting to see the new features Xiaomi brings to the UI – multiple colour UI, facial-recognition gallery, and Showtime. To find out more about the other MIUI 7 features, click here. Those eager to update their phones, next Tuesday is the day to look forward to.
