Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players have been making a fuss over the game’s inconsistent hitboxes ever since the game first came out. The wonky hitboxes make it difficult to properly hit enemies. Thankfully, it has now been addressed: the new update has replaced the old hitboxes with more accurate ones.
While this means it’s no longer difficult to properly hit a jumping player (it used to be the case with the older hitboxes), many CSGO players are reporting framerate drops after the update. Chances are, the newer “capsule-shaped” hitboxes require more calculations than the older ones, which in turn affect the general performance of the game. Interestingly, when a player is on a ladder, the hitboxes are still inaccurate. This can be seen in the video below at the 6:10 mark.
Other than that, the very popular M4A1-S rifle has been nerfed. Although it is slightly cheaper to purchase now (it costs 3,100 instead of 3,200), it has an increased spread – albeit it’s almost unnoticeable – and a lower rate of fire. Interestingly, although the update supposedly reduced the rifle’s armour penetration, it still remains the same as pointed out by SlothSquadron on Reddit.
Some of the other changes that the update brings are new animations (climbing ladder and diffusing the bomb, among other things), and dynamic player culling, which prevents players and weapons from poking through thin walls, revealing their position. The full list of changes can be found here.
