Blizzard and Samsung have entered into a promotion for Samsung Galaxy S6 users. Any Hearthstone player who logins into their account from a Galaxy S6 will receive a special promotional card back, as well as three Classic packs of cards. Interestingly, this promotion only seems to be for the Galaxy S6 series; and none of the other Samsung devices.
This promotion appears to run indefinitely, and players will be able to claim their Galaxy Gift rewards at any time. New players will have to sign up for an account and complete the tutorial to receive the gifts. There is no word if this stacks with an earlier promotion from Blizzard for Hearthstone players that login to their accounts from an Android device for the first time.
At the moment, the Galaxy Gifts rewards is an oddly specific promotion centered on the Samsung Galaxy S6 series. It has already managed to annoy collectors of card backs who do not own a Galaxy S6, and must now figure out a method for completing their collections. This promotion also differs from previous Hearthstone gifts in that it offers three Classic packs for logging in from a specific platform – Blizzard has traditionally only offered one pack at a time.
That being said, not everyone needs to own a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 plus to take advantage of the Galaxy Gifts rewards. Players can still borrow a friend’s device and claim the rewards as the promotion does not require anyone to actually continually play the game on the phone. More advanced Android users who want to claim their packs can also refer to this Reddit thread for other solutions beyond buying a new phone.
