HTC has just launched a new service called “Uh Oh Protection.” This oddly named service basically offers free replacement for your One M9 or One M8 if something were to happen to it within the first year of ownership. It covers both cracked screen and water damage, which are probably the two most common kind of phone mishaps.
The Uh Oh Protection service is actually an extension of the HTC Advantage program, which offers free one-time screen replacement for the first six months of ownership. This new program basically doubles the protection period with the added coverage for water damage.
This program isn’t only beneficial to accident-prone users either. If you did not utilise the free one-time device replacement, you will receive US$100 (about RM365) off on a HTC One series device. Unfortunately, this credit can only be used on the One M9 or future HTC One series devices on HTC.com, which is not available for us here in Malaysia.
On top of that, the HTC Advantage’s free one-time screen replacement was not made available for the Malaysian market either. Chances are, the Uh Oh Protection service will also be unavailable here, which is a little disappointing.
