Ustwo to Redesign Car Dash

Ustwo, the company who developed the very popular game called Monument Valley, isn’t just a company that make games with beautiful artworks. The company is also an accomplished design studio and it looks like they want to redesign your car’s dashboard to not only make things a whole lot prettier, but also more useful than ever.

Ustwo notes that while technology for automobile has been improving a lot (they pointed out that there were 10 automakers at CES 2015 with 50 products designed to reduce accidents), but one thing remains the same for all – they all look the same, and have been looking the same for decades. Hence, the company is partnering up with CDR (Car Design Research), to “enrich” the look and usability of the instrument cluster.

According to Ustwo, they want to refresh the instrument cluster with something new. While there already are digital display in cars, they all still look the same, like digital versions of analogue dials. They want to change that by applying modern context and technology. This includes a design overhaul that is able to connect with a mobile to receive and deliver critical information. Like for example, it can show you your journey information such as distance to your destination, or the road condition ahead so if it’s a slippery road, it’ll show a warning and a recommended speed.

Ustwo already has something up for you to play with so if you’re interested to see what they have in stored for the future, visit Ustwo to check out their prototype. You can even download the source code and design assets from their github page.

Do you think a redesigned dash would help users out there, or would it just confuse drivers, especially the older generations?
