Rumours have surfaced that Xiaomi will be taking to the skies. The company, which has seen the expansion of its Mi ecosystem to smart home sensors and game controllers, has been rumoured to be investing in a small firm known as FlyMi; which is testing the drones for the Chinese manufacturer.
The prototype drone that Flymi is working on appears to be a quadcopter drone as sources have reported that the original design of the Xiaomi drone very much resembled the DJI Phantom (pictured above). Hence, making the team go back to the drawing board to come up with a new design. It is also expected that the company will be developing an Android app to complement the launch of the drones.
It is still a mystery as to when the drone will be completed, not to mention an official release date. That being said, with the trend in Xiaomi’s product announcements lately, the public might get a glimpse of the MiDrone sooner than expected.
