A man tried to smuggle 94 Apple iPhones into China by strapping the devices to his body, effectively giving him the most expensive, and uncomfortable, underwear known to mankind. It’s amazing how far people will go to make a quick buck.
From the pictures of the arrest, it seems like the Hong Kong man has built himself a rather impressive suit of armour made out of iPhones. Although his two shopping bags had nothing suspicious after being inspected, customs officials were suspicious of the man’s weird walking posture. After he set off a metal detector, he was subjected to a body check that revealed his “ingenious” plan.
It seems that the smuggler had several iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with him, strapped to various parts of his body including his torso, thighs, legs, and nether region. Considering how expensive these Apple devices are, he easily has more than RM200,000 strapped to his body.
While it’s rather hilarious how the smuggler thought he could get away without setting off a metal detector, you have to commend on the guy’s bravery; even though it’s a pretty silly plan to begin with.
