Uber Project Momentum

Uber Malaysia has announced the launch of Project Momentum, a new programme intended to bring extra benefits for its drivers in the country. Project Momentum will reduce business cost for its partner drivers, while also providing additional incentives for drivers to increase their performance while on the road.

Under Project Momentum, Uber drivers will qualify for a number of perks designed to improve the safety and comfort of their rides; include vouchers for services like vehicle maintenance. Partners like Lim Tayar have already come on board to provide discounts on tire rotation and servicing, which will reduce the operating cost of the Uber driver.

Uber Project Momentum Partners

Lifestyle perks are also being implement for Project Momentum participants. Espresso Lab is offering Uber drivers with the Project Momentum card a 20-percent discount on coffee, while Jabra will provide a RM50 voucher. Several other shopping and lifestyle partners are also participating to make the programme more attractive to drivers.

Uber is also hoping that Project Momentum will increase the quality of service from its drivers by implementing a gamification system. Uber drivers will be able to collect points for going above and beyond the basic level of service, and will also be rewarded for taking on passengers during peak traffic periods. The idea here is to not only create more economic opportunities for its drivers, but also build a bigger and stronger Uber community.

Uber Project Momentum Badges

Project Momentum kicks off on 1 July 2015, and any driver who signs up as an Uber driver partner from that time will automatically qualify to join the programme. Existing Uber drivers can sign up after 1 July through the dedicated Project Momentum app.

Once a driver has joined the programme, he or she will be provided with a Project Momentum identification card for use with partner stores and services. This card can also be use as a TouchNGo card, but it appears that Uber will not be supplying credit for it at this time.

Project Momentum is not a new programme from Uber, as it has already been launched in the US and UK. Malaysia is the third country to see this being implemented as Uber says that Kuala Lumpur is one of its fastest growing markets.
