Some might still hold him responsible for what happened to Nokia, so this might be an interesting news for you who feels the same way: ex-Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop who is currently leading Microsoft Devices Group (MDG) will be leaving Microsoft very soon. This is apparently due to leadership’s shake up that Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella has announced just moments ago.
In addition to that, MDG and Operating Systems Group (OSG) will now be merged into a single entity called Windows and Devices Group (WDG). This new team will be led by the current Executive Vice President of OSG, Terry Myerson.
These changes ultimately mean that Myerson now not only responsible for Windows but will also overlooking quite a number of products including Surface, HoloLens, Lumia, and Xbox. Given how Windows 10 will be appearing at all of these devices, the expanded portfolio seems like a natural fit for Myerson.
There are other executives involved in the latest changes to Microsoft’s leadership but of course, MDG and OSG (now WDG) received our attention as they are responsible for majority of Microsoft’s consumer products. Now that there is a new captain at helm, let’s see how Myerson will steer WDG and all the products under its wing forward from now on.
