The Samsung Galaxy Tab A will be arriving in Malaysia in the middle of next month. The productivity minded tablet comes in two sizes; the 8-inch and the 9.7-inch variants. Both share the same specifications, with only the display and battery size differentiating the two.

Powered by a midranged Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2GHz, the Galaxy Tab A is packed with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Naturally, the storage can be expanded via microSD card.

On the rear is a 5-megapixel camera, which is about adequate for a productivity machine. The front facing 2-megapixel camera is about just right for video conferencing.14302808304691740405233

The battery difference includes a 4200 mAh for the 8-inch version, and a 6000 mAh for the 9.7-inch. Samsung says that this should provide about 12 hours of solid working time.

As part of the goal of being a productivity machine, Samsung has bundled Microsoft Office apps with the Galaxy Tab A. This includes 100GB of Microsoft Onedrive storage for two years. This could potentially be a massive selling point for business users, especially when combined with Samsung’s new WiFi keyboard. Sadly, there is no keyboard cover for the Galaxy TabA just yet.

The Galaxy Tab A 8-inch and 9.7-inch will be sold in Malaysia from 15 May 2015. The 8-inch model will retail for RM1299, which the large model will retail for RM1599. Both prices are inclusive of GST.
