Huawei has announced two of their latest flagship devices – the Huawei P8 and the Huawei P8 Max. However, the company’s P8 series actually had a trio of devices, but it seems the Huawei P8 Lite version is missing from the list. The company did not announce the smaller 5-inch smartphone on-stage, despite it already having its own (now removed) product page.
The P8 Lite was supposedly a mid-range device that would be a more affordable alternative to the P8. As to why it was not officially launched with the Huawei P8 and P8 Max, it could be that Huawei wants to push sales for its flagship device first before releasing the more affordable version.
So far, specifications have been unveiled about the mid-range P8 Lite. The 7.6mm-thick device sports a 5-inch 720p display, running on a 64-bit 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 octa-core Kirin 620 processor paired with 2GB RAM. In terms of storage, it has 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion of up to 128GB via the SIM 2 slot. On the front, there is a 5MP camera for selfies and a 13MP camera on the back to capture higher resolution photos.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi ac, and also 4G LTE. To power the device, it has a 2,200mAh battery. The Huawei P8 Lite will be running on the Android Lollipop-based Emotion UI 3.1.
No information on pricing or availability of the Huawei P8 Lite has been revealed as of yet, but speculation says that the device will be priced at €270 (about RM1,061).
