It looks like Sony will not be announcing a flagship smartphone at MWC 2015 but don’t be disappointed. The company has instead opted to announced its next flagship full-sized tablet, the Xperia Z4 tablet.
The Xperia Z4 tablet is a 10” tablet from Sony that packs all the latest and greatest hardware under its hood. Design wise, it looks like the bigger version of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact with a similar rounded metal frame and a glass finish on the back. What’s different is Sony has finally decided to do away with the flimsy claps for its charging Micro USB port, while maintaining its IP65/68 rating for water and dust-resistance.
On to the specs, it looks like Sony is finally catching up to its competitors when it comes to hardware. The 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor that is powering most of 2015’s flagship smartphones can be found on the Xperia Z4 tablet too along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD slot (up to 128GB). It also has a 2K display on board that, when combined with Sony’s X-Reality for mobile engine, results in “simply breathtaking detail”.
As for the camera, Sony is packing an 8.1MP Exmor RS for mobile camera on the back that can also capture Full HD 1080p videos. The front has a 5.1MP camera with wide-angle lens, making it a great device to capture “wefies” or for your video conferencing needs.

Other specs include great audio with Sony 3D Surround Sound technology, Clear Audio+ and xLoud experience, LTE connectivity, 6000mAh battery, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
Sony did not mention anything about the pricing but it is believed to be similar to the price of the Xperia Z2 Tablet during its launch last year – US$499 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model.
