Samsung has just unveiled the NX500, the successor to the NX300. That being said, the NX500 is actually more similar to the NX1 than its predecessor, sharing the same 28MP APS-C sensor, 4K video recording, and ISO sensitivity that goes up to 51,200.

However, there are certain differences between the NX500 and NX1. While both cameras are capable of 4K video recording, the NX500 can only record at 24fps, whereas the more expensive NX1 records at 30fps. On top of that, the NX500 also offers a slightly slower burst shooting mode at 9fps.

Although it shares certain elements with the NX1, the NX500 is after all the successor to the NX300. Design wise, it’s not hard to see that the NX500 definitely has design elements of its predecessor. It also shares the same tilt touchscreen display of the NX300, which will prove useful for low and high angle shots, or even selfies.

In terms of connectivity, the NX500 has WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC, which should make it effortless to send pictures from the camera to your smartphone or tablet.

Available globally from March onwards, the NX500 retails at US$800 (about RM2,840) and will come in black, white, or brown.
