The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 issues will definitely be a big problem for a lot of phone manufacturers this year, which is why it is now rumoured that Samsung will not be using the chipset for its next flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S6.
All the while, Samsung has been releasing its devices with two options – one powered by its own Exynos processors and another from Qualcomm, but it looks like the latter might not be a choice for the Galaxy S6. According to Bloomberg, Samsung might ditch the greatest processor from Qualcomm due to overheating problems.
Xiaomi’s newly announced Note Pro is also powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor and since it does not even have a release date, it is believed that Xiaomi will be delaying it due to the same issue. Strangely though, the LG G Flex 2 that was unveiled earlier this month does not seem to have a problem, and is even scheduled to be released later this month.

Could the problem be caused by Samsung’s lack of experience in an all-metal smartphone, which is likely to contribute to the heat issues? Maybe, but looking at how well the Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is performing, using Exynos chipset on the S6 might not be a bad idea, especially if it also features the 4GB LPDDR4 RAM by Samsung.
