Sony SmartEyeglass

Earlier today at Sony’s conference in CES 2015, the Japanese company took the curtains off its new wearable concepts including a Google Glass-like Smart EyeGlass, as well as a smart headphone called Sony Smart B-Trainer.

We’ve seen Sony’s SmartEyeglass before, it’s a Google-Glass like smart spectacle that comes with a display and shows you information right in front of your eye. But Sony also has got something even more interesting to show off at CES 2015 called the SmartEyeglass Attach! – a single lens display module that can make your regular glasses smart. It’s only a prototype for now and Attach will only work with a handful of frames, but Sony says that the final model will look better and come with a host of mounting methods so it can support a wider range of regular glasses.

The SmartEyeglass features a tiny OLED microdisplay on the right glass, showing you a wide array of information. An example given by Sony is visualizing a path when you’re hiking the Japanese mountain, or highlight an imaginary route of a golf ball.

Sony Smart B Trainer

As for the smart headphone, called Smart B-Trainer, the prototype introduced at CES is a waterproof all-in-one headset style device. It’s packed with sensors and memory so on top of being able to play back your favourite music, it can also track the wearer’s fitness information such as heart beat, steps and such. Since it’s a headphone, it will also be able to read out notifications and tell you your fitness progress.

Sony says that the Smart B-Trainer will be made into a product, and hopes to bring it to the mass in the early part of the year. Well, they won’t be the first to do so, LG already has a similar smart headphone introduced last CES.
