Joining a Secret Santa exchange on Reddit paid off for one lucky Redditor after she received some extremely thoughtful gifts from Microsoft founder Bill Gates. The presents included a replica of Loki’s helmet from the Marvel movies, a coffee table book about Africa, a plush Polio microbe, a signed note from Gates himself, and a donation in her name to provide vaccines in poor countries
Calid7 mentioned that Gates had obviously read what she wrote in the Reddit Secret Santa questionnaire, as her gifts were just what she wanted; aside from the plush toy anyway. While the helmet was slightly cracked in transit, the glee in her face from receiving the surprise gifts was all too obvious.
Many famous people take to Reddit to promote their work, although it is commonly actors and musicians who get the most attention. Gates himself is known to regularly visit Reddit, and occasionally participates in Q&A sessions on the message board to highlight his work on eradicating malaria in the modern world. This is, however, the first time that anyone has received Secret Santa presents from him.
