If you are using a Lenovo laptop that was purchased between February 2011 and June 2012, then this news is for you: the company has announced that the power cords for laptops that was acquired during the said period might have a faulty power cord. Hence, Lenovo has initiated a worldwide recall program for it effective immediately.
As shown in the image, the faulty power cord has several characteristics that would able to help you determine whether you are in possession of it or otherwise. One being the word “LS-15” etched on its connector and there might also be a sticker similar to the one shown above attached to the cord.
You are also able to identify the cord by answering this set of questions at Lenovo’s official website. Do note that this recall only affects the power but not the whole power adaptor. Here is the full list of affected laptop models, as provided by Lenovo:
If your Lenovo power cord is affected by this recall program, you should refrain from using it immediately since the cord possesses fire and burn risks. You can exchange for a new power cord by bringing it over to Lenovo Malaysia service centre together with your product’s name and serial number.
However, we do advise you to give a call to Lenovo Malaysia first in order to determine the specific service centre that you should visit in order to exchange the affected power cord.
