Announced back in October, Spotify Family was the music streaming company’s plan to encourage households to purchase Spotify premium subscriptions at a discounted price. Now, Spotify Family is officially available in Malaysia and the prices will start from RM 22.35 for the user and one family member.
The offered subscription plans range from RM 22.35 for two users, RM 29.90 for three users, RM37.35 for four users and lastly RM44.90 for five users. Users who subscribe to the Spotify Family plans will have full access to the same features as a normal Spotify Premium account. Features such as being able to independently craft one’s own playlists and also having one’s own song recommendations, and most importantly advertisement-free music, will be available to Spotify Family subscribers.
Chief Content Officer, Ken Parks, said that the motive behind Spotify Family was because it was a highly requested feature from the company’s fanbase. It should also be noted that Malaysian subscriptions for both Spotify Premium and Spotify Family are much more cheaper than prices in the United States. The price for Spotify Premium in Malaysia is at RM14.90 while it is priced at US$ 10 for the North American market.
