Gone are the days when a Class 10 SD card that is capable of 10MB/s write speed is considered fast enough. Adata has recently announced two series of UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) SD Cards, the XPG and Premier Pro series. These two offerings from Adata has a minimum write speed of 30MB/s; triple the speed of Class 10 SD cards.

The XPG series, the higher performing of the two series introduced, is capable of read and write speed of 95MB/s and 80MB/s respectively. That’s almost three times the minimum write speed of U3 SD cards. The only downside is the fact that the XPG series only comes in 64GB.

Those who are willing to sacrifice a little bit of speed for more storage can opt for the Premier Pro series instead. With read and write speed of 95MB/s and 60MB/s respectively, it is still plenty fast. Storage wise, buyers have an option of 64GB or 128GB.

Both the XPG and Premier Pro series SD cards are SDXC cards and come with a lifetime warranty from Adata. They are also quoted to be shock, water, and magnet proof.

No official local pricing for both series have been given yet, but a quick Google search shows that the 64GB XPG SD card retails at US$130 (about RM450), while the 64GB and 128GB Premier Pro SD cards retail at US$65 and US$110 (approximately RM220 and RM380) respectively. Of course, the official prices here could be different from these estimates.

The release date has not been revealed yet, but we were told that these will be available soon at selected retailers and distributors. For more information, visit the XPG and Premier Pro series product page.
