TEDxKL Offers Lowyat.NET Readers Special Rates for Tickets

tedxkl-2014

The popular TEDx series returns to Kuala Lumpur for another year, where 13 influential people from a diverse set of practices will be presenting their stories to Malaysian attendees. This year’s TEDxKL will be held at the Calvary Convention Centre on August 9, and will carry the theme “The Open Future”. As the official forum partner for TEDxKL, Lowyat.NET readers get to enjoy special rates for the admission tickets! Read on to find out more.

For those who are not familiar with the TEDx series, it can be summarised as an “independently organized TED event in the spirit of spreading ideas that matter.” If that’s sounds extremely vague, here’s a better idea of what it is from the organisers:

TEDxKL is an event where three things are done. People are met, new things are learned, and most importantly, a fun time is had by all.

Generally, a dozen speakers are invited, each doing their own unique work in each of their respective fields. They’re asked to share their experiences and thoughts on the world today, and how we can start to make it a better place.

The true focus of TEDxKL is the people who attend it. It’s not just a platform for the audience to attend and passively absorb information. It’s more of a forum really, with speakers who are doing meaningful things and know what they’re talking about to provide some conversation stuff. If it were just about the speakers, TEDx wouldn’t need to exist.

Intrigued? Tickets can be purchased online at RM150 (subject to a RM8 processing fee), while walk-in ticket prices are set at RM180. But, readers interested to attend this year’s TEDxKL event can also use a promo code to get RM10 off the online ticket price. Simply head on to the ticket registration page here and key in “lowyattedxkl2014″ at the Promo Code text box. Click “Validate” and your ticket purchase will now include the RM10 discount.
