[Update: 11:50am, July 18] Samsung Malaysia has added another model, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, to the lineup. More details below

Samsung Malaysia has revised the retail prices of some of its smartphones ahead of the festive season. A full-page advertisement run on a national newspaper showed that devices such as the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and several others now feature price reductions of up to RM300 from their original retail prices.

Four of Samsung’s higher-end smartphones will have their retail prices permanently reduced, while a new lower-end device has also been introduced. These devices include Samsung’s two flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 3. [Update: 11:50am, July 18] Samsung has now added a new device in the price revision, which is the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The full list of the price revisions are as follows:

  • Galaxy S5: RM2149 (original RRP: RM2399)
  • Galaxy Note 3: RM2299 (original RRP: RM2399)
  • Galaxy S4 (octa-core, non-LTE): RM1499 (original RRP: RM1699)
  • Galaxy Grand 2: RM999 (original RRP: RM1119)
  • NEW – Galaxy Note 3 Neo: RM1399 (original RRP: RM1699)

In addition to these price cuts, Samsung also took the chance to remind Malaysian consumers of its latest affordable smartphone available in the market, the Galaxy Core 2. Announced globally just over two weeks ago, the Galaxy Core 2 has been available in the Malaysian market around the same time. This device is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 768MB of RAM, and features 4GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB cards, a 4.5-inch 480 x 800 display, 5MP rear camera and a 2000mAh battery.
