DiGi Streamlines iDiGi Postpaid Plans with Existing SmartPlan Offerings

DiGi has announced new iDiGi postpaid plans for the iPhone contract bundles, streamlining them to be similar to its SmartPlan postpaid offering. Now, the new iDiGi postpaid plans will have a similar monthly commitment charges of RM50, RM108 and RM148, while the iDiGi 238 plan will be retained.

These changes, which appeared sometime last night, allows DiGi to cut down on its postpaid plan choices to a more uniform offering for iPhone and non-iPhone devices. The new iDiGi will have now have four different plans, the same number as the DiGi SmartPlan. Here’s a breakdown of the new iDiGi plans:

The introduction of the new iDiGi plans come just three weeks after DiGi announced the iDiGi 50. Previously, only three iDiGi plans existed: the iDiGi 88, iDiGi 138 and iDiGi 238, which now looks to offer less value for money compared to the new ones.

Just as before, the new iDiGi plans can only be subscribed with a purchase of an iPhone 5s or 5c. With the exception of the iDiGi 50 (12 months), all iDiGi subscribers will be subjected to a 24-month contract.

In addition, the device prices of the iPhone 5s and 5c with an iDiGi contract will also feature lower device prices – though that shouldn’t be surprising as we are due for a new iPhone in just a few more months. Nevertheless, you’ll also find a breakdown of the rebated device prices for the two iPhone models with the iDiGi plans in the table above.

In addition, these new plans are almost similar to DiGi’s SmartPlan offerings:

With the new iDiGi postpaid plans, it is now a lot more affordable to get the iPhone 5s and 5c on contract. But, with rumours that Apple will again announce two new iPhone models in September, perhaps it there is a better time to plunge into that 24-month contract.
