Electronic Arts’ free to play online version of the FIFA franchise has officially gone into the open beta testing phase. Incorporating elements of modern free to play games and features originally found in collectible games, EA Sports FIFA World allows players to build their own teams comprising the best players in the world.
The game currently has 16,000 players from 600 licensed clubs, and also incorporates some 45 national teams. Unlike the regular FIFA titles, users will have to build their own teams. Players can be bought from the transfer market, but also from buying randomised booster packs. Other items and power ups are also available as drops from the packs, which gives this game a slightly CCG feel. A feature that may put some players off.
Antisocial gamers who still want to play the latest FIFA title can also stick to the single player tournaments that are also offered. EA Sports FIFA World requires an Origin account to play, although you will still have to register again for the open beta.
