Android Police has taken a peek at the coming update for Google Drive and discovered that the capability to edit documents is being removed. Instead, users who want to work with documents will be prompted to download a new Docs and Sheets app.
Without the app installed, users will only be able to view documents; although Android Police reports that the viewer currently has some issues. Fortunately, the Docs and Sheets app is essentially the same as the old Google docs editor and it shouldn’t take any time to get used to things. It is still too early to say what will change in the new app, but there is apparently a redesigned menu.
The currently APK indicates that a Presentation and a Drawing app are also on the way, but there is little to be seen of them at the moment.
