This article appeared in whole in Lowyat.net landing page, instead of the usual short form. May want to look into it asap.

I’m an OCD certified human being, the asymmetrical speaker grill is driving me nuts.

    1. Pang Tun Yau says:

Seems like it was done to facilitate the inclusion of the front-facing camera and sensors.

I thought you’d have more issues with this image (didn’t see the asymmetrical lines until it was too late):

woots, but perhaps its the back and i dont see the back of my phone that much, so it’s okay? XD

Great review Tun Yau. I do wonder, will this M8 face the same issue as the M7?(Purple & green flare, sim card not detected, etc). How was your experience with the phone?

    1. Pang Tun Yau says:

Well, according to the regional product manager I spoke to recently, the M8 uses an all-new UltraPixel sensor with new hardware. He specifically said there’ll be no purple tint issues this time round – though you can never be too careful with these things.

As for SIM card, i switched to a fresh nano SIM for this review, and I’ve not had any issues whatsoever. I have read that some new M8s in Singapore had this issue, but I think a recent software update fixed this (specifically mentioned “optimisation to system, network and SIM card detection”).

any idea on when exactly they will launch the phone in Malaysia? should I get it from grey importer like DirectD or wait for it? I need a phone before end of next week..
