New-DiGi-SmartPlan-with-4G-LTE

Remember the new DiGi SmartPlan postpaid plans that was unveiled by the telco earlier this month? It offered postpaid plans from as low as RM50/month and it looks like the telco will be revising its cheapest plan to offer even more value at the same price. According to our sources, DiGi will be revising its SmartPlan 50 to give double the value at the same price.

[Update] Sorry for the error earlier, the revised SmartPlan postpaid plans will come with additional freebies on top of what’s being offered right now, which means you will get extra 100 free minutes and 100 free SMS.

With Whatsapp, Telegram and all the other mobile messaging apps out there, will you actually use up the free SMS provided by your telcos? According to our sources, the revised SmartPlan 50 will come with all of the usual stuffs like 2GB of internet, 200 free SMS, unlimited WhatsApp messaging, unlimited surfing on Opera Mini as well as free DiGi visual voicemail, and an additional 100 minutes of talk time and 100 SMS to all network. On top of that, while the plan does not come with a contract, meaning you can join and leave anytime you want, but if you commit to a 12 months contract, the telco will offer a RM5 monthly rebate for the entire contract duration, allowing subscribers to save an additional RM60 in total.

This means that with the additional calls and messages, SmartPlan 50 will have a total of 100 minutes of talk time to all network, and 300 SMS (100 all net, 200 on net). According to our sources, DiGi might also extend the additional 100 minutes and 100 SMS for its SmartPlan 78 as well, so fingers crossed because 100 minutes and 100 SMS is worth a total of RM25 based on the call and SMS rates from DiGi (15sen/min & 10sen/SMS).

Do note that this is just a leak so we can’t confirm that it will be released, but if it does, it will without a doubt be the best postpaid plan for first-time smartphone users. The revised SmartPlan 50 and SmartPlan 78 are highlighted in red in the table below:
