Oppo N3

Plenty of teasers have been posted online prior to today but nevertheless, the moment of truth has finally arrived. Just moments ago, Oppo has officially taken the drape off from its new smartphone, the Oppo N3 and as a direct successor to Oppo N1, the N3 also features a rotating camera.

There’s a new twist though: N3’s camera is actually motorized. In another words, you don’t have to use your hand to rotate it.

Oppo N3 Launch 07

Users are able to control the rotation through several ways including the touch display, the new O-Click 2.0 Bluetooth Remote Control, or the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device. That being said, the camera can still be rotated using one’s hands without the risk of damaging the camera’s step motor which is made by Schneider Electric.

Covered with a faux leather, the camera itself is built with a 16-megapixels ½.3” CMOS sensor alongside a F2.2 lens that was crafted in cooperation with Schneider Optics and dual LED flash setup. Interestingly, N3 is apparently able to snap a 50 megapixels image through a mode called Ultra HD under the camera’s Pure Image 2.0+ technology. It also able to shoot 4K videos at 30 fps.

Oppo N3 Launch 02

As mentioned earlier, the N3 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner that is located underneath the camera module area at the back of the device. Apart from the ability to control the movement of N3’s rotating camera, it also can be used to protect the device from unauthorized usages as what one would expect from a biometric scanner. Also new to N3 is the Skyline Notifications 2.0 lights that is located at the hollow underside part of the device.

Meanwhile, the N3 also features a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display with pixels density of 403ppi and is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone’s processing power is provided by the 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA quad-core processor as well as 2GB worth of RAM.

Oppo N3 Launch 10

With a frame that is made from industrial-grade aluminium allow 7075, it also comes standard with 32GB internal storage together with the support for microSD card with storage of up to 128GB. Oppo has also included its VOOC mini into N3 as well which allows the phone’s 3000mAh battery to be charged up to 75% in just 30 minutes.

At the launch event today. Oppo announces that the Oppo N3 is priced at USD 649 (RM 2,122). However, the Malaysian price for the device is expected to be slightly lower at between RM 1998 to RM 2098 once it arrived in our shores towards the end of the year according to Oppo Malaysia.

Stay tuned for a closer look at the device coming your way shortly but for the mean time, do check out global.oppo.com to learn more about the new Oppo N3.
