Xiaomi Global Vice President has shared the official hardware configurations for its latest smartphone, the Redmi Note. The phablet will be available in two processor options, and as usual are both almost unbelievably affordable. Don’t believe us? Hit the break to find out why.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note will be available in two hardware configurations, but unlike yesterday’s announcement of the Oppo Find 7 and Find 7a, the difference is limited only to the processor clock speed and RAM. The Redmi Note will be powered by the MediaTek MTK6592 processor, where one variant will sport a 1.4GHz chipset with 1GB of RAM, and the other will feature a higher-clocked 1.7GHz chipset with 2GB of RAM.

Besides that, the other hardware aspects of both variants of the Redmi Note are the same. The full specs of the Redmi Note are as follows:

  • MediaTek MK6592 octa-core chipset (1.4GHz with 1GB RAM or 1.7GHz with 2GB RAM)
  • 5.5-inch 720p IPS display with full lamination TP
  • 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
  • 3200mAh battery
  • Dual-SIM, dual standby

Those eager to purchase the Redmi Note will also be glad to hear that it will be heading out of its native Chinese market in May, to Hong Kong, Taiwan and yes, Singapore. Malaysia is not included in the list for now, but Barra notes that other markets will be added “very soon”. Given that it has been confirmed that Xiaomi is planning to enter the Malaysian market in April, we could be seeing the Redmi Note pretty soon, too.

Finally, the price. The Xiaomi Redmi Note will be priced at $129 for the 1.4GHz/1GB configuration, and $159 for the 1.7GHz/2GB configuration, which at the time of writing would convert to about RM430 and RM530 respectively.

Don’t worry, we can’t seem to believe it ourselves.
