The final instalment of Rocksteady’s “Batman: Arkham” franchise will be released on October 14 this year. Touted as the “explosive finale” of the series, “Batman: Arkham Knight” will see the the story pick up from where “Arkham City” left off – and yes, for the first time in the series, you will able to drive the Batmobile.Unlike 2013’s “Arkham Origins“, which was developed by WB Games Montreal, the final installation of the series will see Rocksteady take the helm once more. Rocksteady gained critical acclaim with its two previous “Batman: Arkham” titles, namely “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and “Batman: Arkham City”. Each title introduced new elements in gameplay that was widely praised by critics, such as the free-flow combat system on “Arkham Asylum” and the spectacularly vast open world that was completely free for roaming in the air with Batman’s new gliding and grappling system.

2014’s “Arkham Knight” is set to raise the bar higher once more. Rocksteady will be making the Batmobile user-controllable; a first for the series. Game Informer notes that the freshly-designed Batmobile will be a “core element” in gameplay, where an entirely new area of Gotham City will be introduced in the game, featuring wider roads for better Batmobile gameplay integration.

As usual, players will be battling against the Batman’s usual array of foes, including Scarecrow, Penguin, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, and more. A notable absence here is, of course, the Joker, who fell in “Arkham City”. As game director Sefton Hill notes, “this is the natural end for the story. We really want to go out in style.”

Interestingly, users will also be able to play as Harley Quinn in “Arkham Knight”. Pre-orders for the game is already open in the US, and customers who make the pre-order will receive an exclusive Harley Quinn add-on, allowing users to utilise her own unique combat style. The add-on will also include four challenge maps.

“Batman: Arkham Knight” will be available on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 for $59.99. Check out more details at www.batmanarkhamknight.com.
