We have seen the sign before thanks to the recent listing on SIRIM’s database but this time, it is really happening. Surface 2 is officially coming to Malaysia very soon, as confirmed by Microsoft to us.
Originally launched in US last September, Microsoft is set to release the tablet into a number of new countries including Malaysia as part of Surface 2’s latest market expansion. The Malaysia launch date has been set to (release date updated, see below) which is only few weeks’ away.

UPDATE (956AM): The Surface 2 Malaysian release date is actually 14 March instead of 13 March that we mentioned earlier. Additionally, Microsoft Malaysia has confirmed to us that the company will also be releasing Type Cover 2 and Touch 2 Cover into our market. We are now waiting for pricing information for all three products as well as the availability information for Surface Pro 2.
UPDATE (1016AM): Microsoft Malaysia has replied back to us and stated that the pricing for all three product will be revealed as we get closer to the launch event on 13 March. The company will announce more about Surface Pro 2 at a later date as well. Additionally, the original Surface RT and Surface Pro will continue to be available but Microsoft Malaysia has no announcements regarding their pricing as of today.
