It has been months since Microsoft Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 were launched in US but as of now, there is still no official sign that both devices will be made available in our market although Microsoft Malaysia has actually responded (somehow) to customer’s request last year.
That might change soon as we have just spotted both tablets on SIRIM’s database. Both devices were listed as their model numbers which is 1572 for Surface 2 and 1601 for Surface Pro 2. Unlike the original Surface RT and Surface Pro, these model numbers are not etched directly on the devices themselves but we have verified them through the EU Declarations of Conformity documents as listed by Microsoft Ireland.
As both devices are registered under the name of two Surface’s main distributor in Malaysia (ECS Astar and Ingram Micro), it seems like the release of both products in our market shouldn’t be far away especially the fact that both devices have received approval from SIRIM back in December 2013.
Well then, let’s see if Microsoft Malaysia has anything to announce regarding the second generation Surface tablets soon.
