Samsung has been rumoured to be working on a “Lite” version of the Galaxy Note 3 for quite some time now, and it appears that several leaked internal documents show that the device will be called the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which seems like a mash up of the latest Galaxy Note 3 and 2012’s Galaxy Note 2.
The documents appear to be part of an internal presentation deck, which pitches the Note 3 Neo as an intermediate between the Note 2 and Note 3, with an almost identical set of hardware with the Note 2 (5.5-inch 720 display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 8MP camera, and 3100mAh battery) with elements from the Note 3, including the latest S Pen features and yes, the faux leather back as well.
But perhaps the most interesting part of this Note 3 Neo is the introduction of a new hexa-core processor. In a similar vein to Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa chipset, the hexa-core processor will feature a 1.7GHz dual-core processor paired with a power-efficient 1.3GHz quad-core chipset.
The documents did not mention a release date, but it is likely that we may be seeing it officially next month at MWC 2014.
