The world’s biggest hackathon competition, AngelHack, comes to Malaysia next month. Featuring sponsors including Google, PayPal, Amazon, Facebook, BlackBerry, 1337 Ventures and VLT, this two-day competition will take place in Cyberjaya, as the attention turns to the growing KL’s growing startup community.

Article continues after the break.

Aimed at web developers and entrepreneurs, the AngelHack competition lets participants learn developer tools, as well as receive funding and mentorship for their startup ideas. This year alone, there will be 100 hackathons organized worldwide in over 50 cities, where winners from every city will be put through the AngelHack Accelerator Program, where they are mentored for 12 weeks before being brought to Silicon Valley to raise investment and introduce them to incubators. Previous AngelHack winners have gone on to attend famous incubators including Y-Combinator, TechStars, AngelPad, MassChallenge and 500 Startups.

Winners of the AngelHack competition stand to receive lucrative prizes, where they will be drafted into the Accelerator Program and be mentored to turn their hack into an investment-grade startup. Two members of the winning team will then be flown to Silicon Valley for a 10-day stay, where they will get to demo their product, raise investment, and attend TechCrunch Disrupt. The runners up will also win other prizes, such as Android devices and hotel stays.

Also, there will be BlackBerry-specific prizes for BlackBerry-related entries. Prizes include all-expenses paid trips to BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013 in September as well as the chance to pitch at the event and win $10000.

So how can you win? If you have new projects that can wow the crowd and have the potential to improve people’s lives, or even hacks that people would actually use, laugh at, and potentially scale, you could very well be on to something.

The Kuala Lumpur edition of AngelHack will take place in MSC Malaysia’s Knowledge Workers Development Centre in Cyberjaya on the 8th of June. Those interested in taking part in AngelHack KL as a hacker, volunteer, or sponsor can sign up at http://angelhackkl.eventbrite.com/.
