While the IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard might not has been finalized yet, couple of manufacturers have already produced products that utilize the standard for the past few years. The new PCE-AC66 and USB-AC53 802.11ac adapters by Asus are among the latest additions into the growing number of 802.11ac-based products in the market.

Said to be the first dual-band PC Express 802.11ac adapter in the market, the new Asus PCE-AC66 comes with three detachable antennas and the ability for users to switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Asus has also included a magnetized base for PCE-AC66’s antennas so that users will able to position those antennas at location that provides the best signal performance.

As for Asus USB-AC53, it also supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrum bands. The USB 2.0-based 802.11ac adapter is able to sustain speeds of up to 300Mbps and 867Mbps on respective bands. Equipped with dual-antenna, the Asus USB-AC53 is bundled together a cradle, a USB extension cable and a notebook attachment clip.

The new Asus PCE-AC6 PCI Express 802.11ac adapter will be available in Malaysia starting from February 2013 onwards with a price tag of RM 289. No actual pricing and release date for the Asus USB-AC53 is available for the time being although the device is expected to be released into the market within this quarter.
