HTC Butterfly S 1

It looks like the HTC Butterfly S will reach our shores very, very soon. HTC Malaysia just announced that the device will be reaching Malaysians in mid-August with a retail price of RM2,399. Announced back in June in an event in Taiwan, the Butterfly S sports a similar design with the original HTC Butterfly, except that it packs a 5” 1080p display with front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers on board. Running on Android 4.2 with Sense 5 on board, the interface is almost identical to the HTC One.

Beneath the 5” 1080p display is a 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, making it even more powerful than the HTC One. It has 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, with 2GB of RAM on board. Camera wise, it is equipped with none other than HTC’s very own 4MP UltraPixel camera with HTC Zoe. Other specs include a powerful 3,200mAh battery, LTE connectivity, is NFC capable and supports infrared remote control.

“We’ve improved the HTC Butterfly by incorporating the new standards set by the HTC One for smartphone performance. The popular HTC Butterfly shifted the perceptions people had about smartphones thanks to the world’s first full HD 1080p, 5-inch screen and that complete viewing experience, and with the new improvements in place, we have taken the HTC Butterfly s to the next level creating a smartphone with unparallel battery performance that also incorporates HTC BlinkFeed. HTC BoomSound and HTC Zoe to give users an extended immersive experience with the HTC Butterfly s unlike any other 5-inch device.” — Jack Yang, President of HTC South Asia.

The HTC Butterfly S will be available at authorized HTC resellers in mid-August for a recommended retail price of RM2,399. It will be available in Fervour Red, Glamour White and Metallic Grey options, hit the break to check out the other 2 colors. Meanwhile, check out our hands on!
