Following yesterday’s global announcement, Microsoft Malaysia today have revealed that the company’s flagship Windows tablet – the Microsoft Surface – is now available for commercial sectors in Malaysia. Originally launched for consumers market back in June, what this means is that companies out there are able to get in touch with selected commercial resellers to obtain Surface for their organizations.
Interested organizations out there are not only able to source stand-alone Surface RT or Surface Pro from these resellers but they are also able to adapt Surface tablets to their needs with specific services such as data migration, data protection, software, onsite support and many more. Additionally, these commercial sector partners should be able to provide accessories that are beyond the standard line-up of Surface consumer-level peripherals.
Microsoft Surface Pro
In total, Microsoft Malaysia have appointed six commercial resellers that are able to provide end-to-end services for commercial customers: Alphamatic Systems Sdn Bhd, CTC Global Sdn Bhd, Felda Prodata Systems Sdn Bhd, Jardine OneSolution Sdn Bhd, Night Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd and Sistem RKK Sdn Bhd. At the same time, Microsoft Malaysia have also appointed Ingram Micro Malaysia as the sole distributor that will cater to all the newly appointed commercial resellers.
While it is rather interesting to see Microsoft Malaysia are attempting to push their hardware product (instead of their usual software and services) into the enterprise segment, we do wonder how the recent announcement of Surface 2 will affect their effort. That being said, the company have no updates on the availability of Surface 2 in Malaysia for either consumer or enterprise markets.
