Sony’s much awaited cameraphone, codenamed Honami, looks set for a regional launch event in Malaysia. More impressively, the event will be held around the same time as the global unveiling at IFA 2013 in Berlin.
A tech portal from the Philippines, Yugatech, revealed a press invite from Sony Mobile scheduled for 4-6 September. The site also states that the event will be held in Malaysia, though the venue was not disclosed in the invite itself. Given the timeframe, it is almost certain that Sony’s product announcement at IFA 2013 will also be unveiled at the regional event, allowing those in this side of the world to experience first hand the new Honami (rumoured to be officially called the i1) as well as the QX10 and QX100 camera attachments.
We reached out to Sony Mobile Malaysia for their comment. Unfortunately, the rep was not able to officially confirm or deny anything regarding the event…yet.
