Honami-vs-z

It’s been a while since we mention the Sony i1 Honami, the camera phone from Sony that features some pretty exciting specs, so here’s a collection of rumors and leaks about the device over the past couple of days. First up, images of the Honami popped up on a tech site, GadgetHelpline, showing off the purported Honami next to the Sony Xperia Z, looking slightly longer and a tiny bit wider than the current flagship smartphone from Sony. The set of leaked images also reveals some shots of the new camera UI though, it’s nothing exceptionally new given that the system dump of the camera has already been released earlier this month.

In case you haven’t gone through the system dump, here are some of the camera features like Superior Auto and Manual, Timeshift burst, live filters and more interestingly, an Augmented Reality that superimpose an AR situation into your images like say, a dinosaur running about on your table. Hit the break for more pictures.

Finally, Sony is expected to unveil the device at IFA in Berlin in early September, but according to their submission to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) recently, they will launch the device on 30 September 2013 and is expected to hit the stores by the first week of October.

The Honami is expected to pack a 5” Full HD display with the company’s very own Triluminious technology found on its televisions. On the inside, it is expected to be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD. The rear camera will pack a 20MP sensor with Sony G Lens and BIONZ image processing engine and of course, IP55/57 certified for water- and dust-resistance. It will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and will run on Android 4.2.2 out of the box.

More pictures available after the break.
