Google is scheduled to hold an event this Wednesday, hosted by its Android and Chrome OS chief Sundar Pichai. While there hasn’t been any concrete information regarding what the event will be about, rumours are rife that the company is finally ready to show off its latest iteration of its Android mobile operating system, and the first official piece of hardware running on it.

Over the past week or so, there has been several sightings of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running on various devices from the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition as well as the LG Nexus 4. Late last week, some internal documents from US retailers were leaked regarding a new Google Nexus 7 tablet. And, just a few hours back, serial leaker @evleaks revealed press images of the next-gen Nexus 7 tablet.

Article continues after the break.

The new Google Nexus 7 tablet will again be manufactured by ASUS. From the leaked images, it looks like the new Nexus 7 packs plenty more than the current model, with the biggest addition being a rear camera, as well as dual speakers at the top and bottom of the device. While the leaked press images showed off the Nexus 7 from virtually every angle, there wasn’t much to go on the actual hardware powering the device. Fortunately, an anonymous tip to Engadget suggests that the new Nexus 4 will pack a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and will run on the new Android 4.3 OS. The new Nexus 7 will also sport a 5MP rear camera as well as a 1.2MP front-facing camera. Wireless charging support will also be available on the next-gen Nexus 7, while a Slim Port allows for 1080p playback to a HDTV.

Finally, the new Nexus 7 will also be available in 16GB and 32Gb configurations, at a rumoured retail price of $269 (about RM800).
