Acer Iconia W3

To be frank, Acer didn’t really go all guns blazing at Computex this year – most probably because they already launched plenty of products such as Aspire P3 and Aspire R7 before the event took place. Nevertheless, one of their Computex’s star – called Acer Iconia W3 – is still quite interesting as it is claimed to be the industry first full-fledged 8-inch Windows 8 tablet.

Powered by the Clover Trail-based Intel Atom Z2760 SoC that features Hyper Thereading-enabled 1.8GHz dual-core CPU and 533MHz PowerVR SGX545 GPU ,  the tablet also comes together with 2GB of LDDR2 RAM which is pretty much the maximum amount of RAM that the SoC is able to support. Pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and Office 2013, consumers can choose to equip it with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Together with front and rear-facing 2-megapixels cameras, the Acer Iconia W3 also features 8.1-inch 1280×800 display that supports up to five simultaneous touch points. Acer has also designed an optional full-size Bluetooth keyboard for Iconia W3, complete with a docking mount for the tablet. Additionally, there is also compartment on the back of the keyboard where users can store the tablet when not in use.

Last but not least, Acer claims that the Iconia W3’s 2-cell 6800mAh battery is able to provide up to 8 hours of life for the tablet. While it is not yet known when this device will be made available in Malaysia, the Acer Iconia W3 currently carries a price tag of around RM 1201 (USD 379.99) for 32GB edition and RM 1359 (USD 429.99) for the 64GB edition in United States.
