Samsung is reportedly planning two Tizen devices ahead of the alternative mobile operating system‘s debut later this year. The first device will be a flagship device, codenamed Redwood, and the other is set to be a mid-range entrant codenamed Melius.
The news come after a document was leaked via a PDF file posted to developers at the Tizen store, where the Redwood codename appears several times under the “Devices” column. Redwood, as was revealed during Tizen’s public appearance at this year’s MWC, is set to be “the best product equipped with the best specifications”.
Further rumours speculate that Redwood will sport 4G LTE connectivity, while the mid-range Melius will only feature 3G radios on board. Both devices will also run on the latest Tizen 2.1 revision, codenamed Magnolia. Redwood is also rumoured to be launched first in August, while Melius will be unveiled in September. In addition, the devices will also be launched in the US first, with Europe and other markets to follow.
