“Plants vs Zombies”, the 2009 sleeper hit from PopCap, will finally be getting a sequel. The original game, which was initially only a PC and Mac-only game, was soon ported to a plethora of other platforms, including consoles and mobile (even on Windows Phone!) due to its addictive gameplay. However, there has been no word from PopCap, who were bought over by EA in 2011, on a sequel.
Now, there finally is. The Plants vs Zombies YouTube page posted a teaser trailer for the sequel, to be called “Plants vs Zombies: It’s About Time”.
PopCap’s playful take at laughing at itself (both in the trailer and the game title) over the four-year gap between the original game aside, the teaser trailer above shows absolutely nothing about the sequel – except for a tentative release date set for July 2013. We’d recommend marking your calendar for that month as “Braaaiinnnsss”.
