Ever tried downloading an entire movie or a music box set while connected to a lousy Wi-Fi or while tethering on your very limited mobile data? It’s a pain. Apple has quietly released an update to its iTunes Store to allow users to purchase a media content now and download later, for you know, when you have a better connection for your impulse purchase.
Available in countries that has iTunes in the Cloud (yes we are one of them), you will be allowed to use “Later” as an option when downloading a very large media file, be it a music box set, movie bundles or individual movies.
The feature is available for those running on iTunes 11, or iOS 6.0 or later. Visit Apple’s Support Page for more information on how things work. I’m hoping that Apple will extend the option to its App Store, to allow users to purchase an app to download later for those Christmas and Chinese New Year free apps offers, where you do not have any Wi-Fi connectivity and the app is larger than 50MB.
