Looks like the rumours were right after all. Samsung has officially announced the new Galaxy Mega line, with two new models called the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. Interestingly, the details rumoured earlier this week were all proven to be true.

However, there were extra details about the new Galaxy Mega line. For example, the processors on both devices will be based on the new Cortex-A15 architecture, which would mean it is the Exynos 5 Dual chipset. In addition, some of the software enhancements found on the new Galaxy S4, such as Air View, Group Play, and Sound and Shot will also make its way to the Galaxy Mega line.

To recap, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 features a 5.8-inch 540 x 960 TFT display, and is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core A15 processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is only 8GB of storage, but the device supports up to 64GB microSD cards. Also, the Galaxy Mega has an 8MP rear camera as well as a 1.9MP front-facing module. This 9mm thick and 182g phablet also packs a 2600mAh battery.

The larger of the two, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 sports a 6.3-inch 720p TFT display, and has a higher-clocked 1.7GHz dual-core A15 processor with 1.5GB of RAM. In addition, there will be storage options of 8GB and 16GB, with support for up to 64GB microSD cards. Just like the Mega 5.8, the Mega 6.3 also features an 8MP rear camera and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. This massive phablet is actually only 8mm thick and weighs 199g, and packs an equally massive 3200mAh battery. The Mega 6.3 will also come in LTE and non-LTE variants.
