Samsung Galaxy S IV Rumor Roundup: Eye-Based Scrolling, 8-Core CPU and More

S4 RenderHow many of you are saving up and holding back your smartphone purchase just to see what Samsung has got to announce in its event scheduled for 14 March 2013? As the date crawls nearer, it seems like there are more and more leaks and rumors as to what the next flagship smartphone for Samsung will feature and here are the things we know so far.

First up, the device has been rumored to come packed with some fancy eye-based scrolling feature that, as its name suggest, allows you to scroll through a page using your eyes. Making use of the existing Smart Stay feature found on the S III and Note II, the Galaxy S IV will be able to track when you are looking at the bottom of the page and move down on its own. The rumor was reported in The New York Times by a Samsung insider.

More after the break.

As for the design, while I’m hoping with my fingers and toes crossed at the same time that Samsung will keep its “designed for human” appearance, according to recent renders, it might not. Instead, the design will be pretty square and so huge that we can’t help but compare it to the LG Optimus Vu.

Display wise, Samsung is reported to ditch its Super AMOLED screen in favor of Full HD SoLux display. If the rumors are correct, it will feature a 5” size, giving it about 440ppi pixel density; just for comparison sake, the HTC One’s 4.7” HD display has a pixel density of 468ppi.

Rumors about the camera has been pretty consistent as well, the back will be packed with a 13MP shooter that hopefully packs some new fancy technology. As you can see from HTC One’s launch, it’s not about who has the bigger megapixel anymore.

Finally as for the specs, Samsung is said to be releasing LTE and non-LTE version. The international non-LTE version is said to be powered by the latest processor from Samsung with 8-cores – the Exynos 5 Octa that was announced back in CES. As for the U.S. version, rumors have it that it will run on the same processor used on the HTC One – 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. It will have 2GB of RAM and will come in 16 GB, 32GB or 64GB configurations.

Are you excited yet? Only slightly more than a week away before the official announcement.
